Spending my Victoria Day public holiday playing through some more of The Witcher. The more I play it the more I realize how deep it goes as an RPG. Every single attribute from strength to your sword hand has a skill tree associated with it. At first it kind of seemed over whelming but I’m trying to stick with it and learn all the intricacies.
It’s been a slow burn as I’ve only been able to play here and there in between fixing things around the house and helping with the kids but it is a huge amount of fun. I just made it out of the tutorial prologue section and talked my way in to the pants of the hot, red haired, sorceress babe above.
Had some free time this evening so I finally finished my portal to The Nether. Was going to stock up on my pork chops and head in but then I remembered that I have a ton of other games to play. I’m losing some interest in Minecraft lately. I have the feeling like I should be trying to tell a story with it because it’s so non-linear. Maybe I need to write up some kind of back story and goal to walk towards. I’m such a big fan of a story that not having one is kind of aggravating. I find myself just building towards what was introduced in the last update then just stop until the next one.
I started playing The Witcher and as far as fantasy RPGs go it’s GREAT! Totally worth checking out for any RPG fan. Wasn’t sure what to expect when I started (assumed it was going to be like Dragon Age 2, which I hated) but damn is it fun. From what I’ve played so far it’s like if HBO made an RPG; great, deep story, swearing, sex and action it really is a great game world to get lost in.
Went through some old boxes and stumbled upon these! Another representation of hours of high school years well spent.
Fact: I spent most of my time in my electronics class making VMU battery packs that last 2 years on a single charge.
3.5 hours.

Time taken to complete Portal 2 co-op with my brother.
Last day of the Gears 3 Beta my wife decides to pick up her Lancer.
Found this neat little indie game about exploration. I don’t want to ruin it but it’s great and only takes about 10 minutes to beat. I totally recommend checking it out. Especially if you like surprisingly deep story telling and minimalistic graphics. It conveys a sense of loneliness and impending dread perfectly.
Spent last night Doing 5 things.
Finishing VVVVVV - Which was AWESOME and totally worth your time. Especially because its only $5 and there’s a demo! - BUY IT!
Watching Castle with my wife from the beginning of the series. Which is a great show we somehow missed when it first aired.
KNOCKIN DEM BOOTS!
Pizza at 11:30 at night (Followed by more Castle).
All in all I’d say it was a perfect Saturday night.
I was going to write a post on how much I was loving this game. Then I got stuck for an hour in 1 section (not the one pictured above) and rage quit. Now I hate it. :-(
The one thing I left off my list of things I want to see at E3.
Dark Souls.
Found the only 2 objects I still own that represent hundreds of hours of my life from 10 years ago.
Maybe I’ll take a look and see what I was playing back then. It’s like finding my own personal time capsule.
